Sept 5: Singer Willie Woods of Junior Walker & the All Stars would be 74 today. He died in May 1997.
Junior & the All Stars were signed to the Motown label in the 1960s, and became one of the label's signature acts. Woods joined the group soon after it was formed as a singer and guitarist and the group moved from South Bend to Battle Creek, Michigan.
The group's best known song, "Shotgun" was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame in 2002. Jr. Walker & The All Stars were inducted into the Michigan Rock and Roll Legends Hall of Fame in 2007.
